14-yr-old buys camper from 1974 and renovates it, one look inside and I’m speechless

14-Year-Old Girl Spends Summer Transforming an Old Camper into a Beautiful Hangout Spot

When summer vacation rolls around, many students struggle to find ways to spend their free time. While some get summer jobs or attend camps, others go on vacation with their families. However, Ellie Yeater, a 14-year-old from West Virginia, had a different idea. She spent her summer fulfilling her dream of transforming an old camper into a beautiful place to hang out with her friends.

Ellie purchased the 1974 camper using birthday money and began the renovation process in the summer of 2016. With the furniture untouched since the 70s, Ellie’s dream project was going to take a lot of work. According to Ellie’s mother, Lori, “it needed work…lots of work.” Despite the challenge, Ellie was ready to take on the project and started by scraping the floors. Her father and brother, both skilled renovators, were there to help and guide her through the process.

After removing the rot and scraping the floors, Ellie began to decorate. She started by changing the camper’s color to her liking, using a bright and beautiful blue called “mystic sea.” Then, she tackled the inside, painting it peachy with aqua blue accents and installing a new wood-patterned floor. To add the finishing touches, Ellie’s grandmother sewed curtains, towels, and pillowcases.

In the end, Ellie turned the camper into her own private getaway in the space of a single summer. It is barely recognizable in before and after pictures. Ellie’s loved ones provided guidance and support throughout the process, and they received a standing invitation to visit her in her camper. Ellie’s mother, Lori, shared that “she has always been an out-of-the-box thinker. I want her to color the entire page!”

Ellie’s accomplishment is impressive, considering that she was only 14 years old when she took on this project. It is remarkable to see what she was able to achieve with the help of her loved ones.
