A tragic incident occurred on January 30 when a medical jet en route from the States to Mexico crashed over Philadelphia, resulting in the loss of all six people on board.
The aircraft was transporting a mother and her daughter who had recently undergone a crucial surgery at the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, accompanied by a doctor and a paramedic. There were also two pilots on the aircraft.
Sadly, prior to the accident, the plane had reached an altitude of about 1,500 feet.
Cherelle Parker, the Mayor of Philadelphia, commented on the tragic event, stating: “A devastating plane crash occurred in Northeast Philadelphia near Roosevelt Mall at Cottman and Bustleton Avenues on Friday evening, January 31, 2025, at approximately 6:10 pm.”
She continued, “A private Learjet 55 – a medical transportation jet – departing from Northeast Philadelphia Airport with two passengers, a mother and daughter, along with four crew members, were killed in the unfortunate crash.”
Jet Rescue Air Ambulance Spokesman’s Statement
Shai Gold, a spokesman for Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, confirmed the sorrowful news, explaining the young girl was courageously fighting an illness.
Authorities have disclosed the names of the mother and daughter who perished in the crash. They were identified as Lizeth Murillo Ozuna, aged 31, and her daughter Valentina Guzman Murillo, aged 11.
The other individuals who lost their lives were Dr. Raul Meza Arredondo, paramedic Rodrigo Lopez Padilla, copilot Josue de Jesus Juarez Juarez, and captain Alan Alejandro Montoya Perales.
The hospital, where Valentina was receiving care, expressed, “It’s incredibly hard and profoundly difficult, especially for those directly involved in her care, knowing she was traveling home. There had been a send-off for her on that very day.”
All victims hailed from Mexico.
When the jet crashed, it created an enormous fireball that consumed numerous homes and vehicles, also claiming the life of a car driver. However, the driver’s name has not been disclosed yet.
