Barbra Streisand has once again expressed her disdain for former President Donald Trump. After coldly serenading Trump in her song “Don’t Lie to Me,” she recently told Stephen Colbert, “I can’t live in this country if he becomes president.” Streisand labeled Trump “so stupid” and “ill-informed,” reiterating her threat to leave the U.S. if he is re-elected in 2024.
This isn’t the first time Streisand has made such a claim. In 2016, many celebrities, including Streisand, vowed to flee the country if Trump won. Despite their threats, none followed through.
The 81-year-old Democratic supporter has never hidden her dislike for Trump, calling him the “Liar in Chief” and the “Groper in Chief.” Her 2018 album “Walls” was inspired by Trump’s presidency, featuring songs like “Don’t Lie to Me” that reflect her frustrations.
In her memoir “My Name is Barbra,” she discusses why artists speak out politically, emphasizing that art is a tyrant’s enemy. Ahead of the 2016 election, she even joked about moving to Australia or Canada if Trump won.
Despite their vocal opposition, celebrities’ threats to leave didn’t influence the voting outcome. As the 2024 elections approach, Streisand remains vocal, calling for a restoration of truth in America.
