Friendly Tips to Keep Pests Away from Your Home

Are mice wreaking havoc in your kitchen? Fret not! We have some friendly tips to help you keep them at bay without causing harm. Forget about those old-fashioned traps and give capturing and releasing them outside a try. Get your hands on special cages and discreetly disguise them with newspaper. Then, entice the little critters with a piece of cheese or dried fruit, and watch them calmly relocate to the great outdoors.

To prevent mice from entering your home in the first place, there are a couple of natural methods you can try. Peppermint oil and cloves can work wonders in deterring mice. Simply put a few drops of essential oil on a cotton ball and place them strategically around your home. You can also scatter cloves in various areas. Not only will your home smell delightful, but the mice will think twice before setting foot inside.

Now, let’s tackle another pesky pest: cockroaches! Here are some natural remedies that will send them packing:

Baking soda and sugar: Combine a glass of baking soda with a glass of powdered sugar. Divide the mixture into cups and place them where the roaches tend to lurk. The sugar will attract them, while the baking soda will do the rest.
Diatomaceous earth: This natural insecticide can be sprinkled in dishes or placed in areas where roaches like to hang out. For added effectiveness, sprinkle a bit of sugar on top to make it even more enticing to the roaches.
Cucumber slices: Who would have thought that cucumbers could repel insects? Simply arrange some cucumber slices on plates, and watch those roaches scurry away!
Boric acid balls: In a bowl, mix one tablespoon of boric acid with one tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk. Roll the mixture into small balls and place them in areas where roaches are known to roam. Repeat the process after three weeks to eliminate the next generation.
Lemon eucalyptus essential oil: If you spot early signs of a roach invasion, pour a few drops of this oil onto pieces of newspaper and position them in their favorite hangouts.

Lavender essential oil: Place 5 to 10 drops of soothing lavender essential oil on small pieces of cotton and put them in your cupboards. Remember to reapply daily.
White vinegar power: Spritz some white vinegar on the bottom of your walls, under your furniture, under the sink, and anywhere else roaches like to scuttle. The smell is a big turn-off for them!
