The First Lady of America visited families impacted by wildfires in Los Angeles and spoke in Serbian/Croatian.

Melania Trump spoke with locals at the Los Angeles wildfire site, including one who spoke to her in Serbo-Croatian, a language that is very similar to Slovenian. Mrs. Trump responded in Serbo-Croatian right away because she is Slovenian and was raised in Yugoslavia.

One of the women who had lost her house in the fire said, “Good afternoon.”

“How are you? Good afternoon.” Melania answered.

Before discussing the woman’s journey to America and the losses she endured in the wildfire, the two gave each other a hug and a cheek kiss. Melania made an effort to encourage her.

She questioned, “You’ve lost everything?” but added, “It will get better.”
